Stetson University’s School of Music will present Shane Klingensmith in a vocal recital on Thursday evening, April 26th at 7:00 pm. The free performance will be held in the Lee Chapel of Elizabeth Hall, and is in partial fulfillment for requirements of the Bachelor of Music degree.
The program will feature works from the Baroque, Romantic and Contemporary periods with music from composers François Couperin, Robert Schumann, Gaetano Donizetti, and William Bolcom. Joining Shane will be pianist Holly Small, violinists Austin Burkett and Mary Renfroe, and baritone Randy Salinas. Of these performers Shane noted, “All of the collaborating musicians are amazingly talented and I’m both excited and thankful to have the opportunity to work with them.”
Shane Klingensmith is a Bass vocalist and studies with internationally acclaimed artist, Russell Franks. Shane has performed numerous solo recitals while continuing to sing in large ensembles such as Stetson’s premier Concert Choir (which he just recently went on tour with). He has taken part in multiple Opera productions with principal roles as Le Negre in Ibert’s Angelique as well as chorus roles in productions including Dido & Aeneas and Le Marmelle. Upcoming performances include the role of Simone in Gianni Schichi at the Stara Zagora Opera House in Bulgaria in collaboration with Varna International Opera Company in June 2012. Upon graduation from Stetson University, Shane looks forward to continuing his studies at the graduate level in pursuit of a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy.
